All College Hike is a yearly event where students meet on campus at the Whitlock music center and then hike for over five miles to the Durley Camp. At the camp, students participate in many fun activities like boating, games, and a chapel service. Along with that, an opportunity fair opens that allows students to vote for class representatives and senate members as well as sign up for many community organizations and club opportunities.
This years Hike was one of the best so far, as there where no shortage of runners and people who came in today. Helpful students volunteered to direct cars to parking spaces and hand out waters to runners. Students enjoyed fun and new games like Gummy Bear Toss, Ultimate Banana Frisbee, and Ice Cream Football. The DC staff cooked and provided food for tired runners and students. Vanessa gave a wonderful message at the closing chapel.
More than anything, a sense of community and fellowship between students and faculty arose as which was the ultimate goal of college hike. New and old students socialized and met new people and friends. Norm Hall, Vice President and Dean of Student Development, said that he “Is extremely proud of the student leadership and the turn out at All College Hike”. The All college hike of this year as well as any year is a great time for students to get out and experience all that Greenville College’s community has to offer no matter what year student you are.
