The township of Greenville offers students great food, great entertainment, and a place to relax at for relatively cheap, if not free.

When the stress of classes and jobs is a bit daunting, there is place to go to relax and enjoy the scenery quietness, that place is Patriots Park. At Patriot’s Park you can go for walks or hangout with your friends. Patriots Park is located on route 140 and 127. You can’t miss it. Homework can be frustrating, long, tedious and all too much at times.

Entertainment, in the form of movies, can be the best medicine for the stress that ails you. The Globe Theater is a place where one can go and watch a great movie and escape from the stress of school. The Globe is a beautiful theater that has looks of a classic 1930s and 40s movie theater with the added touches of modern day technology and modern movies. Starting on Monday,September 8, The Globe Theater will be showing: The Hundred Foot Journey, If I Stay, and When the Game Stands Still. During the month of September the Globe will be offering free movies on Saturday afternoons. The Saturday free movies have yet to be announced. The Globe Theater also partners up with Greenville College to show free Wednesday night movies. The movie names will be announced on the Greenville College student emails. Look out for these emails because the free Wednesday night movies are often great conversation starters.  The Globe Theater is conveniently within walking distance from the college, the address for the theater is 105 North 3rd street.

What student doesn’t love a good slice or two or three of pizza? The town of Greenville has at least two great pizza places. Two of these great places, Mario’s Pizza and Joe’s Pizza, are within walking distance from campus and the Globe theater. These two establishments offer wonderful pizza but also great salads, sandwiches and pastas. So if you’re in the mood for Italians and Chef Boyardee just doesn’t cut it anymore, Joe’s and Mario’s are the places to go. Joe’s Pizza is located at 106 North 2nd street and Mario’s is located at 111 West College Avenue.

If you are hungering for a sandwich and you don’t mind a short walk from campus, Subway is the place to go. There are two different Subway locations in Greenville. The first location is conveniently located next to Joe’s Pizza and the second is located on route 127. Subway is relatively cheap and convenient for the student on a tight budget. Seriously, as a college student you can only eat Ramen Noodles for so long. When you just can’t decide if you are craving a hamburger or ice cream, then go for both. Greenville’s local Dairy Queen is within walking distance from the college and offers a great deal for lunch and dinner. Dairy Queen offers a five dollar lunch and dinner meal. This meal offers the choices between a chili dog and fries, a cheeseburger and fries, chicken strips and fries or a bacon cheeseburger and fries. All meals come with a soda and a free small sundae.  Dairy Queen is located at 219 North 3rd street.

Greenville Illinois is a small town but offers something for everybody and will not cost you a small fortune to enjoy.

Here is a video showing the kind of free events you can find at the Globe theater put on by Greenville College.
