What to Do on a Rainy Day
Rain, rain go away. Come again another day.
We all used to sing this as kids, hoping that the rain would stop so that we could go outside and play. But it didn’t always work. There are still days when it just has to be a rainy day. So what can we do while it’s raining and have nothing better to do?
Reading is a great thing to do to pass the time while it’s raining. If it’s a good book, you could read for hours and not even know it. You could even read an entire book in a day.
Maybe you are stuck at home or in a dorm and you don’t want to go outside. You could pull out a board game and hang out with the people around you. They are fun, and almost as competitive as playing football outside when it’s sunny. Some popular games are Clue, The Game of Life, and Monopoly.
Movies are the greatest thing ever made. It’s like reading a book, but you get done with it in two hours rather than two days. On rainy days, it’s even more fun to have a Harry Potter or Twilight marathon. Maybe even Star Wars?
Making something for someone else (or yourself) is always fun. Make a crazy bookmark or crochet a scarf. Even if you aren’t that creative, you can still make something. If you don’t have any ideas, you could always look on Pinterest. I heard they have a lot of craft ideas!
Sometimes you just need to listen to music and drown everything else out. You could listen to Rain by Breaking Benjamin and think about life and the future.
Who doesn’t enjoy a nice nap every once in a while. On rainy days, it’s perfect! Especially since the rain tends to drain the energy out of most people.
While it might be bad to sit in front of a screen and play video games all day long, it is fun to play them for at least a little while with your friends. You could play anything from Mario Party or Mortal Kombat (which is one of my personal favorites).
Sometimes, the best thing to do on a rainy day is to bake. You can do this with friends or family and then you get to eat some sweet desserts after you’re done. It’s a double plus!
Another thing to do on a rainy day is to binge watch TV shows on Netflix. If you don’t have any shows currently, you could always check out my fellow writer, Sarah Stone’s article, Best Shows to Binge Watch on Netflix.
