Jones has had much success and has become quite the legend. But his legacy outside of UFC could ruin his fame forever.

One of the most successful and tenacious UFC fighters, Jon “Bones” Jones is 21-1 all-time in his career as a fighter. His legacy is incredible; in 2011 he became the youngest UFC champion and defended his 205 pound-belt eight times. The man wants to leave a legacy behind and wants people to know he was the best at UFC. On paper right now, he is!

Sadly, Jones has had deep issues during most of his career. He has fallen off since his championship runs and titles. He has become deemed controversial because of his character and legal problems that have dented his reputation. Suffering an accumulation of many big problems that possibly could tarnish him forever, he needs to make changes in his lifestyle sooner than later. The question is can he finish his legacy of greatness?
The problem isn’t that Jones is cheating as an athlete, his problem lies outside the octagon. The great UFC fighter has been in trouble on multiple occasions, such as usage of cocaine, a bust for DWI, and a street fight with Daniel Cormier, who he actually fights next. On all of these separate dilemmas, Jones was never put in jail or counted as guilty for his actions. The three things that were consequences were he got fined, suspended, and served one day in a drug rehab center.

Jones caused a hit and run car accident and the worst part is the women he hit was pregnant. The pregnant women suffered a fractured wrist and was sent to the hospital but thankfully there were no major injuries and no charges were pressed on Jones. However, getting busted for cocaine stripped him of his title and a 6-month suspension. As of now, he is finally reinstated from his suspension.

In the world of sport, UFC has been getting more publicity than ever. When the undefeated number one women fighter Ronda Rousey, lost to an underdog, Holly Holm, the world went crazy. Most of the common public had no idea who Holly Holm was or what background she came from.
On the flip side, Jon “Bones” Jones credited Holm as the G.O.A.T of women’s combat sport. Jones reiterates that what she has accomplished is unheard of today. It would like putting Floyd Mayweather in the octagon with Jones himself. She was a phenomenal boxer and then she comes into UFC and knocks out Rousey.
Jones makes it clear what truly is admirable about Holly Holm is her character away from the lights, camera, and action. He said that it could either be a good thing or bad thing.  According to Jones, “ She is the long time pride of Albuquerque, New Mexico not only because the way she competes, but the way she treats each and every individual that has the opportunity of meeting her. This actually can be a problem because a simple trip for a gallon of milk to the grocery store could take an easy forty-five minutes and she doesn’t even mind.  She is a role model that you would love to have your daughters look up to.”

Whether Holly Holm knows it or not, her actions and caring character on and off the sports platform has transformed Jones’s life. Certainly Jones has had ups and downs, but there is a light in his life that is shining brightly in Holm that could revamp his career into a life changing experience.

His comments on Twitter and Facebook has shown possible signs of maturity and growth in his life. It is still up in the air if Jon “Bones” Jones can change as an individual before he steps back into the octagon against third-ranked Daniel Cormier, his next UFC fight of the New Year in 2016.
I guess we will just have to watch and see!
