Men’s Volleyball Moves Up in Conference Standings

The Greenville College Men’s Volleyball team completed two wins in Midwest Collegiate
Volleyball League games this past weekend. Greenville is now currently in eighth place out of 14 teams in the very competitive MCVL.

Friday night the Greenville Men played well as they won their match in just 57 minutes with three convincing set wins, 25-20,25-19,25-15, over Olivet. The Bilinski brothers put together a great showing as Daniel had 18 kills, and twin brother Nicolas added 10 kills and 12 digs to help lead the Panthers. As a team Greenville had 47 kills and only 17 errors in 102 attacks.  In the second set alone they had 20 kills on only three errors in the 40 attacks. Tanner Smith led the way with 37 assists on the night. With this win it brought the GC record to 10-8, and 2-4 in the MCVL.
Greenville kept on rolling through the competition over the weekend as they won in another sweep 25-18,25-15, and 25-21 over Adrian on Saturday afternoon. The Bilinski brothers were at it again, with Daniel racking up 14 kills and hitting at a clip of .478, while Nicolas serving up three aces on the day. Greenville had a good defensive day at the net, with three solo blocks,11 block assists, as Johnny Milabu anchored the defense at the net with one solo and three assisted blocks. The Panthers best set was the second one, with 12 kills and only two errors on 24 attacks. On the day the Panthers had 36 kills, 14 errors all on 79 attacks.

In the first season of men’s volleyball at Greenville College the team is currently siting at 11 wins and 8 losses, and 3 wins and 4 loses in the MCVL Conference.”These conference wins take us from the bottom of the conference, to the middle giving us a great spot for the rest of conference play,” said freshman Cooper Eaker.  Greenville will have a few days rest before they take on a tough team in Lakeland. Lakeland is 3rd in the conference andhas a record of 13-5 and 6-1 in conference. “Lakeland is a good team, but we are playing well and have a really good shot at picking up another conference win,” says Eaker. This game will be home on Friday night at 7 p.m. Come out and support the Greenville Men’s volleyball team in this big conference game.
