In Over a Month
March 9th to April 26th. That’s the length of our women’s tennis season. In just over a month 10 girls came together and formed a small family, alongside our tennis matches. While that month may seem short to outsiders, to those of us on the team, it feels a lot longer.
Men’s Tennis Finishes Strong
The GC Men wrapped up a very strong 2014 campaign with a 5-0 defeat of Webster University, in the SLIAC Conference 3rd place match. The day before, the Panthers fell just short of reaching the championship match by losing a hard fought 5-4 match, at the hands of the Westminster College Bluejays.
Woodrome Shines, Lady Panthers Take Both Games in Home Closer
The Lady Panthers battled in a couple of pitcher’s duels Tuesday evening against the Rose Hulman Fighting Engineers. Senior pitcher Ashley Woodrome started and completed both games which were decided by one run each, and had two brilliant performances leading the Panthers to a 2-1 victory in the first game, and a 1-0 victory in the second game.
New Year, New Chances
It was a tough season for the Lady Panthers soccer team. Our non-conference schedule was very difficult. But the teams that we played prepared us for our conference competition. As we moved into conference play, the team played very well. The way that we had stood together throughout the losses we suffered from other teams, allowed us a team bond that may not have been there otherwise. When teams inside of our conference looked at our preseason record, they would often count us out, but that just meant that they underestimated our ability to fight back, and that fight is what characterizes our team.
