Within our own campus, located in the Dietzman building, lies our local gem, Jo’s Java. When you need a coffee or a delicious jolt, then look no further than Jo’ Java.

Jo’s Java is a cool and comfortable communal place where you can meet your friends and sip a hot coffee on a cool day or a cool drink on hot day. The staff is always willing to make a recommendation and is always nice. As I am writing this article, the song “It had to be you” is playing and it transforms the newcomers and regulars back to a time when life was carefree. Jo’s is just the place to relax and be carefree.

Jo’s Java features wonderful seasonal drinks. During this fall, Jo’s specialty drinks include: pumpkin pie latté, pumpkin patch mocha, autumn soother, pumpkin chai, pumpkin chai freeze, apple cider, and caramel apple fruit freeze. If you are not a big fan of coffee, I recommend the hot chocolate. The hot chocolate is a perfect blend of rich melt in your mouth chocolate and hot soothing milk. Another great recommendation is the Oreo Frappe. With the Oreo frappe you can get the Oreo craving and the rush of the caffeine that comes with coffee. The Oreo frappe is just as good as a deep fried Oreo but minus the guilt of eating something so sinful.

What is great about Jo’s Java is that it’s a great place to hangout with your friends over your first, second, third, or admit it, fourth cup of coffee, Jo’s features some excellent sandwiches. One of my favorites is the cranberry-pecan chicken salad on a croissant, you can’t go wrong with this sandwich if you are hungry for something seemingly easy but complicated at the same time. Before I came to Greenville College, I would have never thought of putting pecans and cranberries in my chicken salad. You might think chicken salad is boring but wait until you try Jo’s Java chicken salad; you will change your mind. The sandwiches come with a pickle, chips, and a mint. Jo’s sandwiches include: chicken quesadilla, pulled pork pita, pulled pork nachos and for the vegetarians out there, a grilled cheese pita and a hummus plate. When food at the union or the DC just doesn’t sound good anymore, come give Jo’s a try.

Jo’s Java is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. and for those late night caffeine craving coffee junkies, Sunday 8 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Jo’s Java rivals any Parisian or Greek isle café. Jo’s is a place where you come to get a great meal, great hot or cool drinks, and to make new friends and embrace old friends. Jo’s Java is place that not only stays in the hearts of Greenville College students but in the heart of all us as we leave the campus.
