The Atlanta Hawks‘ win streak was stopped at 19 last Monday the 2nd by the New Orleans Pelicans. The NBA team went undefeated at 17-0 during the entire month of January, which set a new record for the longest win streak in a calendar month. They also set a new franchise record by going 19-0. Their 19 game win-streak is a four-way tie for the sixth longest win streak in NBA history.
In fact, the NBA was so impressed with the team’s performance, the Atlanta starting five were all named Eastern Conference Players of the Month for January. This is the only the second time in NBA history that this award has been shared between multiple players.
During the stretch, the Hawks went 8 consecutive games making 10 or more 3-point shots, which tied a team record. They also led the entire league in assists and 3-point percentage,
Atlanta native and GC student Kasey Richardson said, “I’m really happy about the winning streak because it is really bringing the city together.” The Atlanta Hawks are currently 43-11 this season ranking first in their conference.
