Rumor has it that two special ladies are returning to our screens. Women (and men) of all ages will be happy to hear that Rory and Lorelai Gilmore are said to star in a new limited series by creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive producer Daniel Palladino. Sources say Netflix is closing in on a deal with Warner Bros to bring the “Gilmore Girls” series back.

According to CNN, Netflix is looking to revive the series through four 90-minute movies instead of a 10-episode series. “Gilmore Girls” is a beloved series by most and this news is almost too good to hear.

The original series, also on Netflix, ran for seven seasons.  However, after the sixth season, creator Amy Sherman-Palladino left over contract disputes with the network.  According to CNN, at the Austin TV Festival earlier this year, Sherman- Palladino said she wished they would have called her back for the last episode but they did not. As most fans will know, Sherman-Palladino has teased viewers for years with the four worded ending she planned for the show since the beginning.  Sources are wondering if Sherman-Palladino is coming back to the show to have her last words and to change the bittersweet ending in the last episode of the seventh season.

The most important aspect of this exciting news is that most of the major cast members will be returning in the new 90-minute movies. The cast includes Lauren Grahm, Alexis Bledel, Kelly Bishop and Scott Patterson. Sadly, Melissa McCarthy (also know as clumsy, lovable chef Sookie St. James) will not be returning. Though many can’t imagine a Stars Hollow without a Sookie, the two main leading ladies, Rory and Lorelai, will come back to Stars Hollow to make us all fall in love with their special mother-daughter friendship.

This sounds too good to be true. However, Graham is raving about the new series on Twitter and even Ellen DeGeneres has jumped on the hope boat and posted pictures of the Gilmore Girls on her social media in anticipation of the new series.

The “Gilmore Girls” fans’ hope continues to build as they await the confirmation of a release date of the new series from Netflix. CNN says, according to an insider, the series will air early next year. Netflix deserves a pat on the back for bringing back fan favorites like “Full House” and “Gilmore Girls”. Way to go Netflix, keep up the good work.
