The time has come for winter to hide away till next year. Bring on the flowers and the showers, and bring on spring! Here are 10 ways to make it feel like spring has sprung.

  1. Colors

There are some colors that scream spring. Try to integrate them into your everyday life. These colors include yellow, peach, lavender, lime green, and more. Whether you switch out your dark wardrobe for a brighter one, or just switch your phone’s wallpaper, find a way to incorporate bright spring colors into your everyday life, for a cheery spring reminder.

As the weather gradually climbs to summer temperatures, take advantage of the beautiful spring temperatures. The bugs aren’t quite out yet, but the frost has melted away. It is the perfect time for a walk or a picnic.

  1. Something New

Find something new that reminds you of spring. Spring is great, but the rain can be a mood-melter. Pick out a new umbrella or rain boots, to make even the rainiest of days, a bright spring day.

  1. Planting Time

It is time to get seeds in the ground, and watch your garden grow. April is the best time to plant tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, carrots and more. If you do not have much of a green thumb, here are a few plants that are easy to take care of.

  1. Essential Oils

Oil diffusers can get pricey on a college kid budget, but they pay off. Mix a few oils together to get a fresh spring scent in your dorm room. If you’re struggling with allergies, try peppermint, lemon, and lavender. Here are some good spring mixes.

  1. Fresh Flowers

Stores sell mixed spring flowers for pretty cheap. Splurge and buy some to brighten up your day. Every time you see them, they are sure to put a smile on your face, and remind you of the beautiful flowers on campus this spring.

  1. Spring Cleaning

Spring is the perfect time to knock the dust off and clean out your room. Go through your closet, and send your winter clothes back home. Give your bathroom, appliances, and desk a deep clean and reorganization. If you are feeling really crazy, rearrange your room to mix things up a bit.

  1. Get Organized

With the weather getting warmer, thinking of summer is inevitable, but we still have about six weeks left of school. Do not let the thoughts of summer ruin your motivation. Write down all of your due dates for the rest of the year, make a weekly schedule so you don’t forget important things like registering for classes and continue to get your homework in on time. This is a critical period in the semester. You are halfway through, but finals will be upon us before we realize. Stay organized and stay motivated.

  1. Photoshoot

Whether you and friends are the models, or the flowers along Scott field steal the spotlight, find a camera and have a photo shoot. Use your phone to snap your next wallpaper or twitter avatar. Having a photo shoot is fun, and helps you to appreciate this beautiful spring.

The ice is melted away, and the fish are ready to play. Head out to a lake to get some sun and catch some fish. Walmart has cheap fishing gear, and for a little more fun, dig up your own worms. Make sure you get an Illinois fishing license first! However you celebrate the coming of spring, enjoy it while it is here.
