“If you like to talk to tomatoes, if a squash can make you smile, if you like to waltz with potatoes, up and down the produce aisle… Have we got a show for you!”

If you recognize that song your childhood was probably filled with Biblical adventures guided by bouncing vegetable characters. Great news for you! “VeggieTales” is being made into a Broadway musical!

The production will hit the big stage next summer and will include characters such as Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber, Archibald and Junior Asparagus. Russell Crowe, Nicholas Cage and Whoopi Goldberg will be the featured talent. These actors in their oversized costumes will lead the “Veggie Tales” cast through a series of choreographed routines in some of their most popular songs.

Rumored songs include “His Cheeseburger,” The Hairbrush Song,” “I Love My Lips”  and the “The Pirates Who Don’t Do Anything.” New musical numbers may be introduced as well as additional stories and other celebrity appearances.

Besides music, the plot has been kept under wraps. However, rumor has it that the vegetables might be moving outside of the kitchen and into the real world. The characters might have more to worry about than the Boogie Man and face realistic catastrophes. But have no fear, if tradition holds true God will rescue them from the most desperate situations.

The musical has been steadily gaining popularity since its official announcement last year. Tickets are ready for presale and many showtimes are already sold out. Remember, “God made you special, and He loves you very much!”

April Fools! Sorry folks, “Veggie Tales” will not be on Broadway.
