Flat Earth, Anti-Vaxxers, and Tasty Guitar Licks: A Delve into the Wild World of Conspiracy Theories

YouTube has recently announced changes to their recommendation algorithm intended to reduce the number of conspiracy theory videos suggested to the average user. Inspired by this, I decided to travel down the rabbit hole of the internet’s strangest conspiracy theories. With the help of Dr. Matt Bernico, I quickly learned that there was more to the world of conspiracies than I could have possibly imagined, from coping mechanisms to country/rap crossovers. He explained some of the psychology and impetus behind the most common and vile of conspiracy theories, and offered some guidance as to how a Christian should respond in the presence of someone who has been misled by conspiracy theorists.

Tinfoil hats, birds as a government conspiracy, a film noir-styled emotional breakdown triggered by a man in a cowboy hat rapping to a country beat about how gravity is a globalist conspiracy…there’s just too much action to describe in text, it has to be seen to be believed.

You can catch all of this nonsense and more (culminating in the hottest diss track of 2019) in the beautiful disaster of a video below.

  1. I would be interested in seeing this framed as a live debate. Honestly planted some dangerous seeds in my mind. Conspiracy Music Guru has some compelling science in his videos, but I think you could draw or win.
