It is the time of year that most have been waiting for. Cozy sweaters, apple cider, and pumpkin pie are among us, and you may be thinking, what is there to do around such a small town like Greenville? Well, I’m here to tell you the best places for some fun fall festivities.

Daniken Tree Farm
When: Saturdays and Sundays 10 AM – 6 PM until October 31
Where: 781 Illinois Route 140, Pocahontas, IL 62275
You may be thinking, isn’t Daniken tree farm a Christmas tree farm? Well, you’re not wrong. Though Daniken’s is known for their Christmas trees, the tree farm always has a pumpkin patch for fun fall festivities! Enjoy a 2 acre patch with pumpkins galore to choose from, a corn maze, and wagon rides to and from the patch.

Eckert’s Belleville and Millstadt Farm
When: New activities every weekend!
Where: 951 South Green Mount Rd, Belleville, IL 62220 AND 2719 Eckert Orchard Ln, Millstadt, IL 62260
Every weekend at both locations is filled with fun ways to celebrate the fall season. Some events include the Pumpkin Jamboree, bonfires, and haunted hayrides. You can also enjoy the Belleville location’s country restaurant and custard shop.

Fall Fest on the Farm – Marcoot Jersey Creamery
When: Saturday October 12, 10 AM – 2 PM
Where: 526 Dudleyville Rd, Greenville, IL 62246
The Marcoot Jersey Creamery is a new business to the Greenville area. Head out to the creamery to enjoy some cheese, cider, and cows. What more could you ask for?

Art in the Park – Highland Arts Council
When: Saturday and Sunday, October 12-13, 10 AM – 4 PM
Where: 2005 Park Hill Dr, Highland, IL 62249
Get ready for the 16th annual Art in the Park. Enjoy art exhibitions, work by professional artists, and jazz performances by the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Jazz Combo.

Flügel Fest – Highland Square
When: Saturday, October 19, 11 AM – 9 PM
Where: 1115 Broadway, Highland, IL 62249
Though not directly related to your regular fall activities, the Flügel Fest in Highland is still a great event to make your weekend a little more exciting. Enjoy the event with their wings contest, bags tournament, live music, food and drink vendors, a raffle, and silent auction. Furthermore, all proceeds will support the Highland Plaza and the beautification of Highland.

Pumpkin GLOW – St, Charles Historic Main Street
When: Friday and Saturday, October 25-26, 5 PM – 9 PM
Where: 230 S Main St, Saint Charles, MO 63301
This one is a little of a drive away, but I can attest that it is worth the drive! “Come enjoy the enchanting sight of hundreds of glowing pumpkins along the street.” The historic street is also filled with an array of shops including antique and vintage shops, bakeries, soaperies, ice cream shops, and more. Also included on the street are ghost tours. Dressing up is also encouraged!
All of the fall events that are put on are only one great thing about the fall season. Here are a couple of Greenville University students who also have their reasons for loving this time of year:
Marissa Gomez, a Digital Media and English major, loves Halloween and the fashion that comes with the cooler weather.
Ashley Lewis, an English major, also enjoys this time of year. She says,
“I love the cool weather, the scenery is so pretty, pumpkin everything, and everyone is more calm and relaxed.”
