Imagine a world that has been taken over by monsters, a world where military power is lost and the world is desolated. A family is forced to survive, and they have to stick together while avoiding the monster. No, it is not about the Walking Dead; it is A Quiet Place, a movie that revolves around the Abbott family trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world while also having to co-exist alongside monsters that surround their house. This horror-thriller first released in 2018 and is currently getting a sequel to the original movie.
The first movie, which released in 2018, was our first introduction to this post-apocalyptic world and its family members. The movie does not let up its nerve-racking tension at any moment while only giving us a small rule that you must be quiet. The family in the movie always tries their best to make the least amount of sound possible. However, within the first five minutes, we see the consequences of making noises as it cost the life of a small boy within the family. The movie continues with its story as the parents try their best to keep their children safe from this bat-like creature that attacks when there are noises. The movie premise is simple yet compelling, and despite the characters having little dialogue, viewers were able to feel empathy and hoped for the family to survive what seems like a hopeless situation.
The movie received high praises from both viewers and critics alike, leaving them wanting more from this movie with many hoping for a sequel. As they say, ask and you shall receive, so a trailer that announced a sequel was released on January 1st, 2020. Fans were excited to see what comes next in this upcoming sequel. Unfortunately, the movie has been delayed multiple times, making fans anxious and filled with anticipation for the sequel’s arrival on May 28th, 2021.
From the look of the trailer, it seems that there will be some flashback to give us an idea about how the world falls out while also showing how the Abbott family has to survive in the outside world. With tons of possibilities and with little information, we don’t know what will happen in the movie. However, we do know that this will be the sequel for the fans to see and enjoy for themselves.
Thomas Harris, a student in digital media at Greenville University, said, “I’m quite into the horror movie genre. The fact that they made a movie where you have to experience tension when you make noise and forced you to have to keep quiet is quite unique. I think A Quiet Place did a really good job at putting you into a situation where you have to stay quiet. I can’t wait to see it since I’m quite familiar with the first movie.”
After all this wait, fans of the horror-thriller genre will finally get to see what happened afterward to the Abbott Family, and whether or not they could survive this hellish world while keeping their family members as safe as possible. So prepare the popcorn, get comfy in your seat, and try not to make any sound because A Quiet Place 2 is coming.
