Panthers Basketball Season Comes to an End, Returners Have High Hopes...

The basketball season recently came to an end for the men and women of Greenville. The men’s team ended with an overall record of 15-10, and the women’s team ended 10-15. Unfortunately, neither team was able to gain a position in playoffs; however, as post season training begins for both teams, it’s a good time to reflect on the 2013-14 seasons of both Greenville teams.

Panthers Steamroll Past Blackburn, 98-58

This weekend the Panthers dominated Blackburn for a lopsided 40 point victory. Transfer junior, Jake DeWitt started things off in fine fashion for the Panthers with a fancy reverse layup and a quick and-one. The Panthers also instituted their defensive wall within the first five minutes, and the Beavers could not find any holes. The solid half court to man pressure of the Panthers put Blackburn in a frantic search to find a man open on the other side of the court. A flustered Beavers squad was not able to weave through the half court pressure, and the Panthers kept the speed of the game going towards their bucket. After 10 minutes the Panthers already mounted an insurmountable 33-7 lead.

Panthers Fall to Webster, Record Stands at 4-2

The Greenville Men’s Basketball team came up short against Webster University on Wednesday, Dec. 4th. With home court advantage the Gorloks were able to top the Panthers 77 to 63. Webster was led by stand out center, Kevin Miller.

Men’s Basketball Tops Dominican in Home Opener

The Greenville Men’s Basketball team defeated Dominican on Saturday with a final score of 93-65. The win extended Greenville’s winning streak to three games. The Panthers showcased their fast paced new offense, and the action was a lot of fun to watch

As the kick-off to basketball season and Homecoming Week, Midnight Madness is a celebratory event the recognizes school spirit, friendly competition, and some of our athletes. This pep rally took place in the H.J. Long Gym on October 14th. The cheerleaders gave a warm welcome to the student audience with their cheers and stunts.
