Dinner and a movie.  The perfect date.  Sadly, we all know that going out on a college budget can be a difficult task.  Especially with the cost of a movie ticket averaging over $8 per ticket.  Add that to a $25 plus meal.  The night is getting pretty expensive pretty fast.

Lucky for you, the Papyrus has found the perfect cheap date option for your next weekend out.  Just 20 miles from Greenville are two of the best-kept secrets in the area.  Hillsboro is home to the best little diner within an hour of Greenville.  Greaziez has been owned and operated by the Milanos family of Hillsboro since 1904.  The restaurant boast a menu including the staples like hamburgers and French fries along with great breakfast options.  The restaurant is one of those great quirky places with the menu on the wall and where everyone feels like a regular.  Greaziez is open from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

After dining on the finest cuisine at Greaziez, you and your date can walk down the street to the Orpheum Theater.

Many GC students know the Orpheum for it’s spectacular midnight premiers, but any night at the Orpheum is a special experience.  Another family business, the Eisentrauts take great care to make sure that joy of going to the movies is not lost in mega theaters with 20 screens.  Best of all, admission to the Orpheum is just $7 with popcorn and soda included.  That combined with a great movie-viewing atmosphere makes the Orpheum an ideal location for date night or just a night out with friends.  Show times and movie listings can be found on their website.

So this weekend when you are ready to get out of Greenville but not bust your budget, consider a trip to Hillsboro for dinner and a movie.  You can feel good about supporting local, small businesses, and have a good time doing it.  Go ahead. I dare you. This weekend, get out of town!
