Mid-October is a sports fan’s dream.  Many people are glued to their seats watching postseason baseball.  October is also the heart of football and soccer seasons and several other events.  One more activity fans can look forward to is the beginning of basketball season.  The Greenville College Men’s and Women’s basketball teams will pair with GCSA to host their annual Midnight Madness event to kick off the basketball season tonight at 10:30 in HJ Long Gymnasium.

While practice doesn’t officially begin until Thursday, Midnight Madness will provide an exciting atmosphere for both team members and fans to begin to new hoops season.  The event will include a dunk contest, games for fans such as knock-out and relay races, and scrimmages involving the GC basketball teams with the women’s team dividing up and playing against each other, before the men hold their own intrasquad game.

Some of the highlights of Midnight Madness over the last couple years have been 5’6 point guard and current assistant coach Alex Mumphard dunking and a dance-off at center court last year.  What will it be this year?  Come out tonight at 10:30 to be a part of the Madness!

I also caught up with senior basketball players Tim Daniel and Coley Baker to provide you with some more insight to attend this year’s Midnight Madness and to help preview the upcoming basketball season.
