Lynn Carlson has been a Panther for a long time. He played baseball and basketball when he was a student at Greenville College and began his coaching career as an assistant baseball coach. Before becoming a coach at GC, Carlson played two seasons of professional ball in the Pittsburgh Pirates and Sand Diego Padres organizations. Throughout his career, there were several coaching opportunities that came and he moved on from GC. However, he eventually went back for the position he’s had for the last 21 seasons as head baseball coach.

In 2010, Carlson became the all-time GC baseball wins leader and surpassed the Greenville Hall of Fame member, Dave Altopp. In the 2016 season, he passed the 400 career wins milestone. Since becoming a part of the Saint Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Carlson also led his Panthers to their first conference championship.

Coach Carlson’s goal is to lead the Panthers to the top of the conference and win another championship this year.  The preseason polls reveal that the Panthers and Webster are on top of the East and West divisions. Along with the annual spring break Florida trip, the team is also taking a trip to Memphis, Tenn. to play three games starting Feb. 24. The Panthers have their home opener Fri., March 3 at 2 P.M. against Depauw and then open up their conference schedule Sat., March 25 at Webster University with the first pitch at noon. Be sure to check out the schedule and watch the Panthers in action this spring!
