Meghan Markle is an American-born actress, who has been married once before. She has been seen in many different television shows, most notably “Suits“ and “Fringe,” and she was a freelance model for a time. This former actress stole the heart of the rebellious prince. They began their relationship in June of 2016, and have been dating each other ever since. On November 27, 2017, the couple announced their engagement, planning to be married in the Spring of 2018.
This announcement has caused many of emotions all around the world. Some are sad that the prince will officially be off the market, while others are thrilled for what this means for the monarchy itself. Considering how conservative of an institution the British monarchy is, this is a huge step into the modern era. Both the prince and Markle have experienced a lot of scrutiny over her place in the royal family for several reasons. One of these reasons is that Markle is biracial–her mother is black and her father is white. She was brought into the spotlight, often having news stories written about her with racial undertones. This, in turn, caused Prince Harry to have to make a statement about these articles. He also did a live broadcast of his HIV test, to show the importance of being tested for the virus that causes AIDS.

The union of Markle and Prince Harry will bring a new spin to the monarchy. Any children born to the couple will be citizens of both Britain and America. They will not only be in line for the throne, but they will legally be able to run for office in America. This is not the most probable situation; however, it is still possible. Could this be the start of a new kind of union between America and England?
Although many people look at the relationship between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry through judgmental eyes and with hard hearts, the love these two share for each other is enough to overcome all of these problems. Their love can break apart barriers that many people cannot overlook, even those as significant as prince versus commoner, and American versus British.
