Fall is in full swing and many people are purchasing pumpkins for their seasonal decor. One of the best things about fall is going to a pumpkin patch and picking out pumpkins. We all know that the popular thing to do with pumpkins is to carve out funny designs or even some scary to freak out the hooligans. What if we wanted to do something more? From the D.I.Y. girl herself, here are some helpful (and rather cute) ideas that you can do for pumpkin season!

I saw this idea in a post on Facebook. It is an idea for glow-in-the-dark pumpkins! It takes little to no art skills, and you can be as unique as you wish! Of course the main material for all these ideas are pumpkins. The only other material is glow in the dark paint. This can be the crafting kind of glow in the dark paint or whatever type of paint you wish to use. Now, the only step in this project is to paint on the pumpkin. Whether it is through the seams of the pumpkin or putting dots all over, the goal is to make a very pretty pumpkin that will glow at night. This little craft can show off your outdoor decorations if you plan on setting up for Halloween night. Make your neighbors jealous of this cute and crafty way of showing off your love of pumpkins and the awesomeness of glow-in-the-dark items!

Glitter. It gets everywhere. Although this can be annoying, glitter can play as a aesthetically pleasing decor for your pumpkin. Again, this is a simple and fun way to spruce up a pumpkin. Now, this has many varieties depending on the person. If you want a full on glitter pumpkin, go right ahead. However, if you want something subtle…that is okay too! Make sure that you put down a layer of newspaper to protect the work surface because this can be a messy craft. Then select a pumpkin that you would like to receive the glitter makeover. You can go all out on this one. Depending on the color of glitter or the style you may want. For this idea, spray adhesive is recommended. If you do not have any, glue with a little water will do. Use a brush to apply. If you do have adhesive, spray whatever areas you want to be glitterfied with spray adhesive. While the glue is still wet, use a spoon to sprinkle glitter over the sticky surface of the pumpkin. Next, allow your pumpkin to dry. Once it is dry, shake of the access glitter onto something you can quickly dispose of. Viola, you have a Ke$ha inspired pumpkin.

This craft is by far the coolest idea I’ve seen. It is unique and I would have never thought about doing this to a pumpkin. All you will need is a pumpkin of course and a selection of duct-tape. Now, I am not talking about the standard silver color. I am talking about the tie-dye, paint splatter and even camouflage designs. Once you have all your materials, start by duct-taping all the sections that have seams. Once you have done that, simply use thinner strips of tape and fill the places where you can see the pumpkin. After the pumpkin body is taped up, use a solid color of tape and make triangle pieces to create a base for the stem. Next, use strips of duct-tape to wrap around the stem. It should not take that much time. However, if you would like to make it look all blended together this can become tedious. I like this D.I.Y. because it is not primarily focused on women. Men can create a pumpkin from duct-tape too because they have designs aiming toward that gender. Duct-Tape pumpkins are unique and very cool to show off in your dorm!

So here is a bonus. I saw this while browsing through Pinterest. It is a pumpkin in which you write a recipe (i.e. pumpkin pie) on the pumpkin. How cute is this? I could see this being either a decoration for a house or even a gift to someone during the holiday seasons. It is so easy. All you need to do is find a pumpkin that is tall enough to write the recipe on and get a paint pen or a permanent maker. Then, find your favorite recipe and simply write it on the pumpkin! Although it is kind of cannibalistic, since you are writing a pumpkin pie recipe on a pumpkin,  it sure sounds tasty and it is fun! Enjoy this bonus, hopefully it will bring some holiday cheer to someone near you!
